Rather than bettering the human condition, suburban developments too often gush with an unyielding complication of the status quo, another trip around the cul-de-sac and a stagnation of the progressive imagination that makes us human. We need to focus on building communities that people want to live in, which means replacing roads with sidewalks, cars with bikes, and honks with hellos.
